Who is this Ellen Pollis?

Ellen Pollis has been a yoga instructor and healer since 2001 when she quit her day job and graduate studies in Creative Writing because …. she was terrified she would end up a teacher and it would eat up all of her creative energy!

What she did not fully comprehend at that time was how very much she needed all that yoga, massage, bodywork, and healing to come to terms with her own anxiety, depression, grief and trauma.

Almost 20 years later, she is a TEACHER, HEALER, and WRITER wherever she goes, and creative energy flows in and around her, a bit like the cloud of dust that follows Charles Schultz’ character Pigpen.

She has taught, written, and prayed in Chile, Spain, France, Minnesota, Colorado, and Massachusetts, but these days spends most of her time teaching patience, understanding, and communication skills to her two small boys under five.

Every day she is humbled by how much patience, understanding, and communication she must exercise and exercise and re-exercise (and occasionally injure) herself as she fosters the growth of this next generation of men, one small boy at a time.

She believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to flourish and grow in the direction of their dreams. As such, she is committed to the longtime work of racial and gender equity. She enjoys amplifying the voices and individual humanity of anyone belonging to a thus-far-in-our-history, marginalized group. She knows that hard, uncomfortable work lies ahead, if we are to upend and destroy systems of that create widespread suffering.

She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Hamline University, and has specialties in Spanish, Reading, and English as a Second Language. She has an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Sociology from the College of the Holy Cross. She is a RYT-200 with The Yoga Alliance and a member of the Association of Massage and Bodywork. She has worked as a personal trainer, pilates mat instructor, mindfulness leader, private tutor and nanny in the past, with enough small certificates for her dad to declare she could have her own yellow pages!

Please contact unabashedly! Life is short!

She is here to help if any part of your body, mind, or spirit - or that of your child’s - needs support, training, balancing, coaching, or healing.

Testimonials

Ellen Pollis is one of the most intuitive people I've known. She has the rare ability to sense what you need and how to make you feel better. She has been my yoga teacher, my personal trainer and my massage therapist at various times over the past five years. For a year and a half, Ellen came to my house to lead a yoga group of six women once a week. And I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our week. We grew to love her calming, yet light-hearted manner and her talent for knowing just what would work for us. We've tried several teachers since she moved away from Boston. All of them were good, none of them were in her league.                                                            ~Karen

Ellen was extremely in-tune to her yoga students' needs at each class meeting. She could sense what we needed and when we needed it with patience and clear, calm instruction. She created an atmosphere beneficial to personal, spiritual, and physical growth. I highly recommend Ellen. She is a superb yoga instructor and person.          ~Andrea

There are any number of options or techniques for staying healthy, dealing with stress, working out problems, etc.  I've tried several over the years.  The body work I've done with Ellen Pollis has been the most effective and the most surprising.  It has brought body and mind together in a way I never expected.  My mind has learned from my body and vice versa.  It also worked more quickly than any therapy or exercise I've tried, and the learning and benefits keep growing, rather than just repeating.             ~Chris
